Looking at the Autotask Accelerator UK training events

Last week I had an opportunity to sit in on the latest of the monthly “Autotask Accelerator” events that have been taking place over the past few months at different locations around the country .

Organised as a no-cost value-addition for existing Autotask customers, the Accelerator events are a half-day session focusing on helping Autotask customers get more from their product investment. They are usually focused on a specific theme. For instance, last months Accelerator focused on the Autotask Project module, while the session I attended focused on integration between Autotask and 3rd Party products.

Taking place at the Etihad Stadium, home of Premiership champions Manchester City Football Club, Autotask Sales Engineer Chris Timm took us through Autotask integration with the Sage and QuickBooks accounts packages, while answering questions from delegates about the capabilities (and frankly, discussing the shortcomings too) of the integrations.

The second part of the session looked at integrating Autotask with the RMM packages, GFI Max and nAble. Chris ran through a number of scenarios for integration queries, including opening and closing tickets and sharing Asset information between Autotask and the RMM tools, as well as discussing the capabilities of similar integration with the Level Platforms and Centrastage RMM tools.

After a break for networking between delegates and Autotask staff, Autotask MVP Lee Evans of Harrogate based Vital IT presented on his real-world experiences of using various integration. This was a very well received session which provided a lot of value to attendees.

The afternoon closed with a buffet and some more networking between attendees and Autotask staff.

As someone who works with IT companies to help them with PSA deployments, I found the integration sessions very useful. More than that, though, I, and I strongly suspect many of the other delegates, got a lot of value from the almost “mini” user-group environment, openly discussing challenges and sharing feedback with Autotask directly.

I caught up with Chris Timm of Autotask to talk to him about the idea behind the Accelerator events.
