TripIt – All Your Travel Plans in One Place

Every Friday I share one of my favourite finds of the week — a website, tool or an app that has impressed me.

My Friday Favourite this week is TripIt – All Your Travel Plans in One Place.

What is it?

TripIt is a travel itinerary organisation tool.

How can it help me?

If you travel — via plane, train or staying in overnight accommodation — then you’ll know how challenging it can be to keep track of where you’re supposed to be, at what time, and making sure you get there with the right documents or details.

If you travel regularly or make international trips, this problem multiplies with different time zones, different airlines and new Cities to navigate.

TripIt allows you to pull all of your travel plans together in one place.

TripIt can connect to your email so that any travel confirmations you make — be they flight bookings, hotel or Airbnb accommodation, even train tickets and airport parking — are automatically captured into your travel itinerary.

Once your plans are captured into TripIt, you have one single master itinerary with all your details, which you can refer to from anywhere in the world via any device.

You can sync travel plans with your calendar (time zone differences are automatically accounted for) and you can also selectively share travel plans with friends, colleagues, family or fellow travellers.

I typically do a lot of trips in any given year (and as a side note, here’s why Hotel WiFi should be free!) and I’ve found TripIt is a great way to both have a sanity check of my itinerary before travelling, and for quickly checking my travel plans while travelling.

When I’ve got a lot of trips coming up that might overlap or run close together, TripIt proves invaluable.

It’s much easier than searching through booking emails and checking various apps.

How much does it cost?

TripIt is free to use, with a Pro version (which includes features such as real-time alerts and aeroplane seat selectors) costs $49/year.
