Let Me Google That For You (LMGTFY)
Have you ever had somebody ask you a really dumb question that you knew could be answered with a quick web search?
Do you suspect they’re just being lazy?
Let Me Google That For You
If you’ve ever wanted to tell people to “Google it” then you’ll like the website Let Me Google That For You.
LMGTFY generates a link that, well, shares a google search result. Send this to the person in question and when they see that you’ve just Googled it, maybe they’ll understand the point you’re making?
Of course, if you’re on a really short tether at the time of the question then you could also direct them to this site…

That's all very well Richard but whenever I google anything it still doesn't always [point me in the right direction, and sometimes if I am searching for a piece of equipment that I might be considering buying, half the websites that come up don't even have that equipment. I find it can take just as long depending on what you are Googling about!

Technogran - you can find some techniques on how to get the most of search engines at http://www.aarp.org/learntech/computers/howto/a2002-10-02-ct-searchengine.html - these are techniques well worth learning as a standard keyword search will, as you've found out, give you an overkill of information - much of it irrelevant! So for instance if you're searching for a 2-slice Kitchen Toaster that will also cook bagels and is available in any colour other than white - a search on "2-slice Toaster +bagels -white" will give you a much better chance of finding the information you need than simply searching on "Toaster".That said, the term "Just Google It" is meant in response to simple queries where the person asking the question is being bloody lazy - "You know so and so Company, what is their address?" - Response = "Just Google It" - in other words, you'll find your answer a lot quicker by Googling it than by me Googling it for you and then telling you the answer. :-)

Thanks for that advice Richard, I am in awe! Of course you are right I have just been inputting the thing that I needed more info on, such as Toshiba 37X3030D LCD and getting tons of websites showing up that were about as helpful as stepping on a banana skin. So all you need is + and -. I see. Hmm, you learn something new every day, and never stop learning until the day you kick the bucket! Thanks.
